From CCPMM's beginnings in 1958, quilts have been an important part of the museum's permanent collection. These hand-made treasures are gifts from families and individuals throughout the South Plains and include log cabin, Irish chain, velvet crazy quilts, and other traditional patterns, representing an era of hand-pieced practical, durable quilts, most intended to be washed and used, eventually transforming them into beautifully-mellowed pieces. Most were created ca 1880s thru 1940s.
